Many may be aware that for the past few months, I have been doing research into crystals and how they can be used to increase/enhance energy emission. My recent post regarding ions is a part of that study as well. The question is, are crystals truly usable in energy transmission?

Since, I ( and likely many others ) emit/affect ion energy flow, it would only stand to reason that I would want to do all I can to 1) temporarily enhance the flow or 2) temporarily reduce the flow depending on circumstances and desired outcomes. The more I have studied, the more I conclude that this is likely a genetic phenomena which would lend credence to the adage that "witches" are born not made. Which ( whether some agree or not ) is and has always been my stand. In my heritage, it was called Power rather than Magic but it equates to the same.

GEM CONDUCTIVITY

My studies have shown that most gems are electrical inhibitors rather than transmitters. The sole exceptions to this from what I can glean is the entire family of quartz based crystals and the tourmaline crystal structure ( with the exclusion of black tourmaline or Schorl which actually inhibits electric transmission. ) The one "man made" gem, Moissanite ( Silicon Carbide ) which was found in a meteor and cannot be mined, also is an excellent conductor of electrical energy. This is so much that case that beads of silicon carbide was used into the early 1980s to divert lightening from travelling along power lines. A string of beads were used to run down the poles and hence to ground.

Tourmaline, when heated, creates an electric charge. This is true for all toumalines except for black. Again, if directly worn and being subject to a constant 98.6 degree heat ( or perhaps artificially induced via rubbing ) then a charge of some degree no matter how minute may be created or in existence. It occurs in green, red ( Rubellite ), dark yellow ( dravite ) and blue to bluish green ( indicolite ).

Quartz crystals occur in a variety of colors and the clearer the stone, the better is it's electrical transmission. Hence amethyst, citrine, green quartz or prasiolite,  chalcedony ( a crypto-crystalline quartz ranging from translucent to opaque in a variety of colors ), carnelian ( a chalcedony ), tiger's eye( a chalcedony ), hawk's eye  ( a chalcedony ) and onyx ( commercial black onyx is a dyed variety of agate belonging to the chalcedony family )  can all be used at some level to enhance energy. However, it is the clearer stones such as prasiolite, amethyst, citrine and even the clearer tangerine varieties as well as ametrine which would be most suitable.

Other gems such as the corundums ( sapphire and ruby ) and the beryls ( such as emerald, peridot and aquamarine ) have been shown to lack the ability to transmit energy. In fact, these gems as well as most others inhibit energy output. They act as deadening agents to any electric field.

It may be possible that in in the long forgotten past, some of our ancestors who like myself and others emit/affect ionic energy found that using a "green stone" ( possibly green quartz rather than emerald or peridot ) enhanced things for them. This might account for certain archaic traditions springing up. After all, it has been the concensus of historians that Cleopatra's famed "emeralds" were primarily peridots. To the  ancients, who had no technology to differentiate, a green quartz would be a mere green stone. It was popularized by others via "word of mouth" since writing in the archaic times were the duties of scribes and scholars. Thus it fell to the "vulgar" or common folks to try to replicate without full comprehension.  Those folks then may have proved to be as gullible as some do now today.

Therefore, when looking at gemstones for actual usage as energy transmitters we'd want to choose them accordingly. For ease, I have prepared a partial list of stones and to which family group they belong as well as whether they transmit or inhibit energy flow for easy reference.

ENERGY TRANSMITTERS:

Quartz crystal family:

Transparent gems: amethyst, citrine, green amethyst, ametrine, rose quartz, opal, fire opal, black opal, smokey quartz

Translucent or opaque gems: chalcedony, black onyx, tiger's eye, hawk's eye, bloodstone, agates, blue quartz ( also known as blue chacedony ), aventurine, sard, sardonyx, chrysoprase, heliotrope, jasper, fossilized wood, precious opal

all quartz family of crystals are useable. The clearer the crystal the better the enhancement.

Tourmaline crystal family:

Transparent gems: red/pink tourmaline ( rubellite ), green tourmaline, blue-green tourmaline ( indicolite )

Tourmalines are also very good, giving off a charge when heated. Black tourmaline inhibits energy tansmission rather than enhancing it. So, it may be prudent to use it as an inhibitor.

Translucent or opaque gems: none

Silicon Carbide: Moissanite is also marketed under the name of carborundum. There are many examples of gem grade material available by searching on the internet.

ENERGY INHIBITORS:

Transparent gems:

Carbon: diamond

Beryls: emerald, peridot, aquamarine, chrysoberyl, green beryl

Corundums: sapphires of all colors ( blue, white, green, yellow, orange, fancy padparadscha, Kanchanaburi and Ceylon ) and all rubies.

All garnets whether they are pyrope, almandine or spessartine also fall into the inhibitor category.

Opaque gems: moonstone, turquoise, hematite, jade, jadeite, all feldspar stones, lapis lazuli, sodalite, azurite, topaz ( not to be confused with smokey quartz often marketed as smokey topaz )

BENEFITS OF SALT WATER WASHES

After doing research, I have also concluded that salt water may ( I stress the term may because I am not qualified as a scientist ) be beneficial in clearing a stone of certain charges. Water is known to both carry and disperse electrical charge. In Florida, a storm 5 miles away could easily electrify the waters one was swimming in. Hence, the caution to get out of the ocean when a storm even approaches. Salt ( iodized, non-iodized or sea ) will ground electric charges. This is proven fact,

Therefore, it may be concluded that as gems are used we may need to perhaps clear them of the previous charges. This accounts for the old view of keeping stones in moonlight for a full lunar cycle ( to allow for natural degeneration of energy.. the moon being used for time keeping purposes ) or as in my family to wash in warm saline solution followed by a cool water rinse. Both techniques would serve to removes excess energy charges exteriorly attched to the gem.

Since everything on the physical plane is cyclical ( even electric energy is not a constant flow but minute pulses from what I can ascertain ), then it may prove prudent to cyclically perform this task. I have not gleaned enough to determine a proper cycle so I may suggest a weekly "wash". However, whatever the frequency, it would be best to maintain a regular schedule.

Should a saline wash and rinse be the choice, do not reuse this solution. Pour it down a drain or dispense of it in some other manner. Do not pour the saline solution on plants as the salt content would be detrimental. If water is saved from the cool rinse, this may be poured on plants, shrubs, trees and the like. The residual energy would be of great benefit and the salt content would be negligible.

METALS AND METALLURGY

This topic has lead me to also look into metallurgy and the transmission of charges via metals. The best metal for electric conductivity is silver, followed by copper and then gold. The problem with silver and copper is that both oxidizes. Hence the tarnish which forms. Gold of course is very expensive in relation to the other two but does not oxidize.

Sterling silver is a blend of two metals. It is comprised of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. From the standpoint of conductivity, this would be an excellent choice of mountings to hold any of the quartz or tourmalines. The material may actually enhance and encourage the conductivity of the stone, although there is no way I could prove this scientifically the principle remains very sound.

14karat gold would be a choice of secondary consideration since it is third on the list although it does not tarnish as easily as sterling silver. The composition of 14k gold is 58.3% gold usually alloyed with silver, copper, nickel and other metals. White gold usually contains zinc and possibly nickel plated with palladium or rhodium. White gold would be less effective as a conductor due to the inclusion of possible zinc and/or nickel.

When choosing a mounted gemstone, try to choose one that is mounted as close to skin contact as possible and that is very durable as one may be wearing it frequently. In my family there is a saying that we choose for functionality and not looks. When we are seeking to use gems as conductors of energy, the mountings that surround them would be part of the packaged deal. Look carefully and be wise in the choices made.

INTERPLAY OF THE HUMAN PSYCHE

Were any to attend a funeral in the year 800 A.D. dressed in black it would have been a dreadful faux pas. At that time in history, white was used for mourning since it was the hardest color to truly achieve and usually the costliest garment. This is but an example how colors can affect us as individuals depending on the society in which we live. White would have been the color of death back then, not black as is commonly thought today.

So, with the above illustration fresh in our minds, we turn to the gemstone lore that has been expounded. Emerald ( for example ) is a stone promoting growth and wealth according to various sources. However, as a gem it does not carry any electrical charge whatsoever. Therefore, it may be concluded that the growth was literally " all in our heads " in the fact the since we believed in the lore, then our minds directed our actions to create the desired outcome. As with a psychosomatic illness, it is our minds that is the creative device and not necessarily any directed energy toward a specific goal.

The focus of this essay, however,  is to determine the  gemstone which has been shown to allow for electrical conductivity and it's color would surely affect our mental processes. So, if I were to want to draw into my life growth I may want to possess perhaps prasiolite or green amethyst. The green would help to focus the energy which indeed was truly being funneled through the gem and not merely a subconscious tuning device. It would be a true combination of energy output as well as the mental application on a deeper level.

Colors are truly a personal expression. Red for me often denotes anger or to stop ( derived from the stop sign ). However, red may have a subtle different meaning to another individual. The point is that when using a gemstone, use one that fits the color we as individuals perceive rather than a dry list of what colors mean according to Madam So and So. By wisely choosing in this manner, we enhance the flow of energy though subtle subconscious fine tuning.

If we refer to the partial list of transmitters and inhibitors, we may begin to place stones in a relative position. For example. we may wear a moissanite ring on one hand and a tourmaline on the other to encourage energy flow while wearing a pendant of moonstone or turquoise to interrupt any energy transmission from the chest/throat area.

The possibilities and combinations are endless especially if we begin to factor in the color of each stone which would act as a mental trigger. Therefore, if I wanted to "project" a strong firm current, I may wear a fire opal on one hand, a carnelian ( a reddish brown to orange opaque/translucent stone ) on another with a clear quartz crystal point as a necklace ( or a citrine if one chooses to feel yellow is a more projective color ). Once more, the idea is to allign our individual ideas of color with the corresponding transmitting gemstone, inhibiting gemstone or combination of both depending on what we desire to achieve.

IN CONCLUSION

What I have written in this brief essay represents four months of research. I dare say it is but the tip of the iceberg as it were. It is my firm conviction and belief that the metaphysical and the physical are as intertwined as the wild grape vines may be. The one supports the other and vice versa.

Much of what is written here remains dry facts. However, it is on facts that we, each one of us, can build on. I hope those reading will take time to do their own research and more importantly, utilize the information here to benefit themselves and hopefully others.

As for emitting/affecting ion energy, I was privileged to be in association with a very smart tech person. It was this individual who first detected the fields at least as far as my immediate personal  awareness goes. Unless someone has a friendship with an individual who can build or has access to an ion meter, the question of emitting/affecting that energy would be a matter of speculation.

ADDENDUM

GROUNDING AND INTERRUPTION OF ENERGY FLOW

In the previous work, I detailed the properties of conductive gemstones. These gemstones were primarily of the quartz family, of the tourmaline family other than schorl or black tourmaline and silicon carbide or moissanite.

These are the gemstones that allow for the transmission of electrical energy.

The question, then exits what of the other gems so frequently used? Gems such as turquoise, moonstone ( feldspar ), corundums ( sapphire and rubies ), beryls ( emeralds, peridot and aquamarine being most common along with chrysoberyl ) and the garnets ( pyrope, almandine and spessartine being the most common ) would then act as inhibitors. They would act to interrupt energy flow rather than allowing it to be emitted.

So often in metaphysics, there is a focus on energy projection. However, energy cannot always be projected without a reserve being left. What if the sun shot forth it's energy 100%? Earth would be burned up and the sun would die in a short period of time.

Given this fact, it may be concluded that the other stones are good for preventing either our own enery from projecting outward or act to interrupt incoming energy flows. Hence, these stones would be "protective" in an energy sense or "grounding" by interruption of the flow of energy.

This information would be particularly useful to empaths and those who might be highly sensitive. It also could be used when we need to focus on the internal self rather than expending energy. To elicit change, energy must be used even if the change is internalized. A "grounding" stone would then limit energy output and retain it internally where it can be used to focus on change, hopefully for the better.

OVER STIMULATION

If, scientifically, the quartz group, tourmaline ( excluding schorl ) and silicon carbide enhances energy flow then is there the possibility of over stimulation? Let's proceed on a theory that we are not all totally equal. If this were the case, we would all be Manets or Monets. We would all be Hemingways, Ferbers and Tennysons. We would all be Michelangelos, Da Vincis and Rembrandts. The truth is, in our innate tendencies we are not equal and should revel in that diversity.

Since, this theory is proposed we must conclude that not all can emit/affect energy no matter what they wish, desire or perceive. What happens to the build up of energy that would accompany the natural function of the stones stated? It must either be eliminated or it remains residual affecting the various functions of the body at a base level. This may expalin the excitablility and seeming nervousness of some who wear too many items of certain crystalline nature.

The reverse may also be true when a person wears too many "grounding" stones that interrupt the energy flow and they are unable to adequately disperse that energy. It, likewise, would result in a build up that might affect the physical body. Again, I am no scientist but the principle is a sound one hypothetically. In this case, the weaer would want to use more energy transmitting stones.

It would boil down simplistically to these issues. Do I send energy naturally or is it stored? If I send, how much do I emit a little, some or a lot. Personally speaking, I naturally emit a considerable amount without focusing. Therefore, I may wish to wear more energy transmitting stones and fewer "grounding" or energy inhibiting stones. It is an individual's task to identify where they are and what combination to use.

I wish to Thank Flame Bridhesdottir, whose questions prompted my consideration of these facets. I hope this sheds newer light on an old way and a fuller and richer understanding. As I have stated previously, I am no authority and this is merely the result of about 5 months research. It would be interesting, indeed, to see a full scale research of this nature in order to compare it to the accepted metaphysical properties of the stones.

Blessings
